Louise Martin-Chew

Louise Martin-Chew is a freelance writer, specialising in the visual arts, design and biography. She has authored books on Australian artists including blood language: Judy Watson (Miegunyah Press, MUP, 2008), Forbidden: Fiona Foley (UQ Art Museum, 2009), and Linde Ivimey (UQ Art Museum, 2012). Her biography of Indigenous artist Fiona Foley Provocateur: An Art Life (QUT Art Museum, 2021 won Best Book (joint) at the AWAPA Awards, Art Association of Australian and New Zealand (2022) and was shortlisted for the Magarey Medal (also 2022).

It comprises over ninety per cent of our bodies, and moves us, consciously or not, with the tides. For artist Judy Watson, water sits at the heart of her forty-year practice.
