This year was my first at Overland, and it’s certainly been an interesting time to start. I’d only been learning the ropes for four weeks in our UWU offices before the whole team started working from home due to the COVID-19 lockdown. But despite the physical separation, it’s been surprisingly easy and natural settling into my new role, and I think that’s a testimony to the incredible community we have around us – of other journals, writers, thinkers, activists and artists who have rallied around us and shown incredible commitment and dedication to solidarity in hard times.
All this is to say, we love what we do. We love that we get to support and give space to emerging and established writers and artists every single day. And here’s the main thing – the most sustainable way we can keep supporting writers and artists is through subscriptions! If you subscribe or renew or donate between 13–20 November, you’ll go into the draw to win a ridiculous amount of prizes, secure four red hot issues of Overland and help us keep doing what we do into 2021.
