It is with some sadness that we announce that our brilliant fiction editor of six years, Jennifer Mills, is moving on to other projects. As many of you would know, Jen is wonderful to work with – she’s one of Australia’s leading writers, a visionary editor, and a generous colleague and mentor.

It’s never been an easy choice to be a writer, and it’s never easy to get published. But we try strive to make Overland a series of spaces where you can have a voice – in our print magazine, our daily only magazine, our special fiction and poetry editions (which publish primarily emerging writers, and are produced by emerging editors), our residencies for under-represented writers, our literary competitions and countless other opportunities.

Community and arts organisations and collaborations are central to Overland – we wouldn't be able to make and distribute the important work we do without support from, for instance, the National Union of Workers, who created and sponsor our $18,000 Fair Australia Prize, or The Lifted Brow, who demonstrate some of what's possible when many folks with good ideas collaborate, or 3RRR FM, who keep the radio waves alive.
