The shearwaters

the break and enter of a flock of shearwaters migrating
across a frozen cube of air

the size of a small ocean

flying through one vacant block of winter upon another

their wings tearing strips of wallpaper from the sky
changing the night to day
then back again

piercing the universe
they make an arrow head

before reshaping themselves into a long tideline
like a driftnet
to fish for stars
