- The award is open to poets who have not yet had a collection of their work commercially published: that is, by a publishing house with commercial distribution.
- Entrants must be Australian citizens (living anywhere) or permanent residents.
- Selection will be made by Overland’s poetry editor, Peter Minter.
- The judge’s decision will be final.
- The winning poem will be published in Overland.
- All submitted poems may be considered for publication in Overland.
- Entries must be accompanied by a completed entry form and a $11.00 administration fee (the fee is only $5.50 for subscribers).
- The name of the poet must not appear on the manuscript since all poems will be considered anonymously.
- Two copies of each poem must be submitted.
- Poems must be no more than 80 lines.
- Multiple entries are permitted. A separate form is required for each entry.
- Electronic submissions will not be considered.
- The closing date is Tuesday 22 November 2011. Entries postmarked 22 November 2011 are acceptable. Late entries will not be considered.
- Winners will be announced in March 2012. Include a stamped, self-addressed envelope if posted results are required.
- The major prize is $6000.
- Two runner-up prizes of $1000 each will be awarded at the discretion of the judge.
