come on people, I’ll say it again, it’s not a dirty word!

7 Fitting, perhaps, that we posted this image yesterday with the above post title, and it somehow disappeared into cyber space and set about messing up the entire Overland Overloaded blog. Still, we managed to get it back again, along with the comment made in the comments section by one Carl Sandburg. Hi Carl, you’re now part of Overland Overloaded history.

“Poetry is the journal of the sea animal living on land, wanting to fly in the air. Poetry is a search for syllables to shoot at the barriers of the unknown and the unknowable. Poetry is a phantom script telling how rainbows are made and why they go away.” – Carl Sandburg

Overland is a not-for-profit magazine with a proud history of supporting writers, and publishing ideas and voices often excluded from other places.

  1. A poet’s work is to name the unnameable, to point at frauds, to take sides, start arguments, shape the world, and stop it going to sleep.

  2. Salman Rushdie is a fraud. The real Rushdie was killed many years ago because he wrote something with verses in the title and there weren’t any verses in it at all. Don’t get poets angry is the moral to the story. We’ll rearrange the shape of your world. I’m starting to drift off to sleep already. What was the argument again?

  3. Oh man Paul. You are so right. This launch review is looking rather wanting :( I think there’s gonna be a delay in posts. But we will be hearing all about the magic of gingatao soon!

  4. Oh, I was just bored, Maxine and wishing I was there. A big cake, with somethingorother bursting out of it and singing Cat Empire songs, I think and a fountain, maybe a catfish, made of ice, perhaps vermouth with a twist, or versailles, I am trying to find John Tranter, I’ve heard he can be quite amusing.
    (recaptha, the debut, haha
